Wesley follows Glenview District 34’s policy and decisions for school closings related to extreme weather conditions. The school district's decision is based on weather reports and road conditions which may impact the safety of children and staff. The district recognizes that everyone looks at weather related closures through their own personal lens, and there may be times that you may not always agree with the district's decision. Please know that any decision will be made with the safety of the students and staff as the top priority.
When a decision is made to close Glenview District 34 schools,
ALL Wesley Preschool and
Wesley’s Before & After School Programs will be CLOSED.
If extreme weather conditions necessitate closing Wesley's programs during a time in which District 34 schools are closed for holidays, in-service or are not in session; Wesley’s Executive Director & administrative team will follow the same procedure and notify Wesley personnel so families may be notified accordingly.
Whenever extreme weather conditions exist, Wesley personnel and families should tune into the Emergency Closing Center via Chicago radio, TV, and website (https://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com) for updated school closing information.
If weather conditions deteriorate during the school day and District 34 makes the decision to close early due to extreme weather conditions, the Wesley directors will evaluate the situation and determine a plan that will provide for the safety of the children in the Wesley school age and preschool programs. Deteriorating weather conditions may mean that the preschool site and school age programs will close early. Families may be notified for early pick up.
Mechanical issues such as power, boiler or water system breakdowns may also necessitate closing an impacted Wesley child care facility. For example, if the breakdown occurs at our main site, 727 Harlem, the closure will impact that facility only. If an individual school in District 34 must close due to a breakdown, there will be no school age programming at the affected site.
Please note: There are no reductions in fees in the event of an emergency closings.
